A self managed collaborative kitchen/ canteen in Kings Cross
Finding a place to eat in King’s Cross is an overwhelming prospect, hundreds of restaurants, bars and takeaway chains have opened to cater for the swarm of blue collars and transient Londoners coming to the area everyday. Fast food for fast moving businesses and for the thousands catching a train in a hurry. However at a time when we are all looking for a more sustainable way of living and eating, setting foot again in a kitchen might be a good place to start . Beyond the fast moving scene, some of the 15 000 inhabitants who live in king’s Cross are already behind the stove preparing amazing home made food on a daily basis. The Collaborative Kitchen is an opportunity to explore those local skills: prepare, eat and share food within our community. This is the first step towards a self organised kitchen and canteen space that allows for people and local organisations to prepare and share food.
